What Americans Under 30 Think

"I think America is headed for disaster."

1. Runs concentration camps for accused (but not necessarily charged) terrorists in Guantanamo Bay and sex offenders (who already have done their time) in facilities akin to the Uyigurs in China.

2. Perpetuates multiple never-ending wars all over the globe.

3. Helps create and provide cover for terrorist organizations like ISIS (through its proxies) and Al Nusra (included by the US in the so-called Free Syrian Army). Meanwhile we're supposed to believe America is against terrorism.

4. Has orchestrated the destruction of Afghanistan, Iraq (twice), Syria, Libya, and has militarily backed the destruction of Yemen.

5. Has no real principles but uses money and intelligence to corrupt world leaders, even their own. Uses NGOs as cover to infiltrate and destabilize other nations.

6. The United States is to a degree we do not fully comprehend run by state intelligence services. Epstein was clearly running an intelligence operation run by the US to compromise US citizens, for example, including former U.S. Presidents.

7. The US has ripped up nuclear treaties with Russia and Iran.

8. The US has recently decided to militarize space, with the Space Force, tearing apart an absolutely crucial understanding established with the Soviet Union.

9. The American capitalist system is predicated upon unending growth which we now know is untenable. This means the American economic system as it stands is riding the last of its bubbles before experiencing a massive transformation. But we have no real alternatives since the US intelligence services spent the past 80 years destroying countries and intellectuals who tried to do things differently.

10. Any country that tries to do things differently is identified, vilified, destabilized, and sometimes destroyed. Look to Libya for a prime example of this. Look also to Venezuela. Nothing outside the dying American capitalist system is allowed to exist.

11. Americans are the most propagandized people on the planet, but they can't see it because it's all they know. Their news ecosystem is degraded, and journalism is on a downswing. So much for the 5th estate.

12. Americans are more polarized that I think they have ever been. Degraded journalism is no longer capable of shifting public opinion. It exists in the zone of "fake news" and circulates like a rumor. To a considerable degree, take the #metoo movement for example, news, gossip and rumor have become practically indistinguishable.

13. Speaking of #metoo, petty show trials on social media dictate the fortunes of men.

14. Donald Trump.

15. There is no mass movement against war in the US.

16. Bombing major public officials like Soleimani and calling it self defense.

17. US officials, especially top officials are generally less rational, less honest, less admirable than Vladimir Putin. See Donald Trump, Mike Pompeo, Hillary Clinton, Condeleeza Rice, Dick Cheney, etc.

18. US political activism is now online, just where the US intelligence services can see it and neutralize it.

19. The US pulled out of the Paris Climate agreement.

20. US establishment media getting the 2016 presidential predictions wrong, then waging a flimsy anti-Russia campaign for two years, then an impeachment campaign, only to broadly (if cautiously) back Trump in his war moves. Again, degraded journalism no better than propaganda.

21. The US using vast powers to attack an economic and technological rival, Huawei. Gladly burning the reputation of one of its closest allies to do it, Canada. Losing face in the international community with its inflated narrative of national security risk.

22. The gutting of American manufacturing by the US economic elites, leaving huge swaths of the country underemployed and without any discernible future, except maybe voting in Donald Trump for 2020.

23. Cultures of literate criticism replaced by Twitter conflagrations. The destruction of the American intellectual in its petty online squabbles and dubious pronouncements. The general feeling that America's IQ has been revealed to be 15 points lower than we all thought.

24. The CIA.

25. The NSA.

26. The arrest and ongoing show trial of Julian Assange, one of the few people in the world who dared to pull the veil from American power, particularly the power of US military and intelligence agencies. The ongoing persecution of Chelsea Manning, and the exile of Edward Snowden.

27. NASA can't get to the moon anymore. The space shuttle program is almost dead. Meanwhile, Russia maintains its rocket fleet, and China and India are gearing up for a space race. The US has offloaded its space ambitions to tech billionaires, and of course to the Space Force.

28. The American dream is dying and being replaced by 2nd world style class divisions complete with gated communities and privatized policing.

29. Mass influx of uneducated and semi-educated migrants taking jobs from Americans.

30. Rise of racist, anti-immigration politics and the demagogues who exploit it.

31. Massive disconnect between upwardly mobile, urban Americans located in places like San Francisco and New York, and the rest of America. See the Donald Trump victory in 2016.

32. Loss of the political center. Nobody believes what the President says. Anyone who says they do are either scam artists or stupid.

33. Impending ecological and resource crises that are sending the world into a tailspin. No American leadership beyond "Capitalism: consume and corrupt."

34. Intellectuals have been compromised or sidelined in America. The megaphones are owned by corporations, aparachiks, and propagandists. Noam Chomsky, for example, was ignored by the mainstream media for year, even though most of his criticism was spot on. Intellectuals have been replaced by pundits who make pronouncements in the form of soundbites.

35. American mass culture is trapped in a cycle of simplification and recycling. Most obvious is Star Wars.

36. Media consolidation means Disney now owns 40% of the box office. It's creation by committee, which means bland, politically correct product.

36. People of other countries are gravitating to their own cultures and religion because American creative culture and civil culture has become trash. American culture is garbage. It used to be novel garbage. It used to have shiny packaging. Now it's just recycled garbage, the cinematic quotation of an explosion.

37. The promise of the internet has been replaced by a surveillance society. This was obvious by the early 2000s, but has really come home to roost in the 2010s. Social media tech is now facing complex disinvestments by important stakeholders unless they further align with mass surveillance, all the while doing the duty of the secret intelligence agencies by censoring unpopular speech coded as Russian bots.

38. What Paul Virilio calls the Administration of Fear. In mass society, the only lever left is fear. America is the administration of fear, not only abroad where its drones kill innocent people with impunity, but also especially at home, where the masses are brainwashed with fear every day.

39. America is allied with Saudi Arabia, which runs Sunni terrorism in the Middle East, who butchers journalists right before the eyes of the public, whose citizens bombed the World Trade towers in 2001. MBS is a psychopath, and yet that is America's second best friend in the Middle East.

40. Israel, America's best friend in the Middle East, is a racist state run by a criminal.

41. NATO is fraying at the edges. America can no longer provide a narrative justification for NATO.

42. Turkey has turned toward Russia and away from America, most likely because the CIA orchestrated a failed coup there. This seems permanent, and changes the global security dynamic considerably, ensuring Russia's access to the Mediterranean.

43. The recent US-backed coup in Bolivia that has led to a crack down in indigenous people, continuing America's long tradition of liquidating native Americans.

44. America has failed to topple Vladimir Putin or to cow Russia. Russia and Iran won the war in Syria, against the combined forces of American intelligence and its regional allies.

45. The UK, a long time lap dog and instigator for the US, has pulled itself from the EU, sharply reducing its influence within the EU. It now faces the possibility of losing North Ireland and Scotland and becoming little more than a regional concern.

46. The critics of America are now smarter than the defenders of America. They are better read. They write longer sentences. They speak more truths. They are believed more.

47. The American dollar is floating on a puff of smoke. One day it will collapse and everything in America, and the world, will change.

48. American leadership have indicated no rational plans to shift to a multilateral world. Instead, they have signaled the opposite intention, to hold onto all the power they have, and to grab more. America is positioned for a take over by powerful operators who will make grand promises leading to international conflict, rather than a retreat to a rational position.

49. America is like the mafia, using force to bully countries to get protection money.

50. Many people in the world are turning by necessity against the United States. America is a warmongering exploitative country that no longer has leadership, only a mafia-like presence in the world. It is unfortunately a country that the rest of the world will have to defeat in order for the world and its environment to survive.

Well, those are a few observations off the top of my head.

When you add up those numbers, it doesn't look good.

When the Soviet Union ended in 1989, America had a chance to redeem itself and to establish a New World Order. That order, it turned out, was to militarily liquidate former Soviet satellites, create vast swaths of terrorism, bankrupt the country with empty wars, and ignore all real material economic and ecological crises so that the rich get richer.

Why is this a confession, not a political statement? Because it is a feeling I have. It is a very serious feeling I have been feeling for a long time.

I confess that I will not be able to work with Americans any more with a good conscience. I feel their country and their culture is beyond redeemable. Only a revolution from within with save America, but it will not happen because civil society has been captured by US intelligence. I confess a great feeling of sadness and fear at what is taking place.

Oh, I remembered one more:

51. Colin Powell lying to the UN to get a war started in Iraq. Notice the US doesn't even bother lying anymore? Tells you everything you need to know about how these mafia motherfuckers operate.
