Ingredients for a Long Life

David Robson wrote a piece for the BBC about common elements of the remote “Blue Zones” of the earth where people live the longest, some past age 100 years.  There were common elements to these long-lived residents, though the zone exists on different continents.

  •        Eat only until your stomach is eighty percent full.
  •         Insist on high quality relationships and try to include fellow religious practitioners in your circle of friends.  Additionally, allow yourself to be awed by nature.
  •         Enjoy a few cups of a hot drink such as coffee or tea each day.
  •         Ingest a diet low in meat but high in fruit and vegetables.
  •         Try some sweet potatoes instead of rice.
  •         Consider seaweed, algae and kelp as edible.
  •      Live where the natural radiation level is low rather than very low.
  •      Get plenty of exercise.
