New Proof Settles How to Approximate Numbers Like Pi
Kevin Hartnett, Senior Writer for Quanta Magazine, describes the successful solution to an eighty year old conjecture about whether a rational fractional approximation of desired accuracy for an irrational number can be calculated.
The conjecture came from Duffin and Schaeffer and the calculation to achieve a rational approximation of desired accuracy has been accomplished by James Maynard and Dmitris Koukoulopoulos. See the article at:
