New Amelia Earhart Search Begins


In a story reported in  The New York Times by Julie Cohn, a new search for Amelia Earhart’s missing Lockheed Electra is about to begin.  The aircraft was the object of an extensive and expensive search and rescue effort when it went missing in the Pacific in 1937.  But a new search is about to begin.  It is based on a 1937 photograph that includes a smudged image that has been enhanced by modern computerized methods of improving resolution.

A team of expert underwater search men and women is engaged in the effort, which itself will be filmed and presented as a National Geographic documentary.  See more details at this link:
