Up to 40 percent of lower back pain is caused by bacterial infections, a group of specialists at the University of South Denmark have documented. This Danish team published its results in two articles in the European Spine Journal.
This would mean that antibiotics (against bacteria related to those which cause acne) would replace surgery for a significant portion of persons with chronic lower back pain.
