Mazda is combining gasoline engine technology with diesel
compression methods to create a diesel engine that runs on gasoline instead of
diesel fuel. This could produce a very
efficient engine that uses little fuel and produces very few emissions. There are plans to make this powerplant
available in a 2019 Mazda production vehicle,
