World News Daily Report

Introduction by the Blog Author
Someone I’ve never met cut and paste a story for Facebook about a Nazi submarine found at the bottom of Lake Ontario and then brought to the surface.  I thought the story might be good enough to put in this blog, but there was no link for it on Facebook to the original news coverage.  So I did a word search and found that the story and accompanying picture came from the World News Daily Report.  There was a “Snopes” report about this that is included immediately below.

World News Daily Report regularly publishes wild and sensational false claims to drive social media share-based traffic to its site. Its disclaimer plainly states that the site's articles are fictional:

WNDR assumes however all responsibility for the satirical nature of its articles and for the fictional nature of their content. All characters appearing in the articles in this website — even those based on real people — are entirely fictional and any resemblance between them and any persons, living, dead, or undead is purely a miracle.

Previous World News Daily Report hoaxes included claims a baby in the Philippines was born with stigmata, a lottery winner died after gold-plating his testicles, a 14-year-old virgin was impregnated by a flu shot, a slaughterhouse employee murdering dozens of coworkers over a span of twenty years unnoticed, a donor heart recipient who went on a killing spree after receiving an organ from an executed serial killer, a man's whose genitals were bitten off during the attempted sexual assault of a pit bull, a meth-using babysitter who ate a toddler, a Smithsonian employee caught "raping" a mummy, an overweight man's suing Golden Corral because he was ejected for staying too long, rat meat sold nationwide as chicken wings before the 2016 Super Bowl, and a woman's setting a world record by giving birth to 14 children by 14 different men.
